AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has confirmed the departure of Rally Bwalya to Sekhukhune United.
As revealed by the publication, Bwalwa, who joined Usuthu from Simba SC in Tanzania at the beginning of last season, is leaving AmaZulu in a swap deal with striker Victor Letsoalo.
This website saw Letsoalo at Usuthu premises this week, fueling the move was on the cards for the former Bafana Bafana striker in returning to KwaZulu-Natal once again.
“We released 11 players including Rally Bwalwa who has parted ways with us,” said Zungu on the arrival of new coach Pablo Franco Martin at the King Shaka International Airport on Thursday night.
“As a club, we have to make decisions and as the president of the club, I’m not scared to make decisions.
“I made a decision after I consulted with others, but as I said I’m not scared to make decisions.”
Ironically, Bwalwa played under Martin at Simba during the CAF Confederation Cup 2021/22 season, losing to Orlando Pirates in the semi finals.
The Zambian international featured in 24 matches, scoring once last term as the club finished 12th in DStv Premiership.
At the Sekhukhune, Bwalya will be reunited with former coach Brandon Truter, who when Usuthu signed him from Simba at the start of last season, he was the club coach before he was let go in October.
Meanwhile, Zungu has confirmed that Siboniso Vilakazi will be one of Franco Martin’s assistant coaches and the second will come from abroad based on the recommendation of the former Simba coach.
“Nini Vilakazi, who was the coach of our development, will be the assistant coach of Cijimpi,” said Zungu.
“The other assistant coach, we will unveil it in due course. It might be an assistant coach from outside the country who Pablo will have to identify,” said Zungu.
