Mduduzi Mdantsane’s move from Cape Town City to Kaizer Chiefs is back on after his failed January transfer to Amakhosi.
The 28-year-old recently celebrated 100 games in the colours of City – after almost three years at the club.
Having joined the 2021/22 league runner-ups in January 2020 as a free agent after parting ways with Baroka, the playmaker has become one of the leading talents in the DStv Premiership.
With 20 goals in 102 appearances he’s City’s all-time leading goalscorer but ‘Mdu’ seems to have lost his goalscoring boots this season as he only scored once and assisted on one occasion in 27 appearances in 2022/23.
A close source confirmed to iDiskiTimes that in January, Chiefs wanted to get the signature of Mdantsane on loan with an option to buy.
But the deal collapsed on the last day of the transfer window, with City understood to be preferring an outright fee, while the player rejected a chance to join Sekhuhune United, who agreed on a transfer fee with City.
This publication has now been informed that Amakhosi are back in negotiations to sign the South Africa international midfielder for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
Talks are ongoing regarding the deal between the two clubs but no deal has been struck as of yet, with the player’s contract expiring in 2024, after City exercised a one-year option before the turn of the year.
Mdanstane is keen on a return to the club he featured for during his development years and made it clear when he rejected the proposal from Babina Noko, that he would prefer a moveto Naturena as the next step of his career.
