President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has prohibited men between the ages of 18-60 from leaving the country.
Calling for a general mobilization of his citizens, Zelenskyy said the Ukraine has been left alone to defend itself.
This after Russia began it’s attack on the Ukraine.
According to Ukraine’s Health Minister Oleh Lyashko, 57 people were killed and 169 were wounded in attacks that hit multiple cities in Ukraine.
But, Zelensky said 137 citizens, including military personnel, had been killed and over 300 had been injured since Russia’s invasion.
Russian President Vladimir Putin launched several multi-range attacks on Ukraine, including air strikes, land invasions and sea shelling.
Scores of social media posts out of Ukraine show people trying to flee whilst air sirens blare in the background.
As reported on Al-Jazeera, Ukraine’s military killed 50 Russian troops, and destroyed military vehicles in Karkhiv.
However, Russia denies that any of its military aircraft and vehicles were destroyed.
Ukraine’s military does not compare to Russia’s military strength. As it stands Russia has a 850 000 strong active military, while the Ukraine only has 250 000.
Russia also has thousands more artillery, rockets and missiles, tanks and armoured vehicles.
With over 6 200 nuclear warheads, Ukraine’s President vow to continue fighting is ambitious.
Addressing his nation, Zelenskyy said, “”Who is ready to fight alongside us? I don’t see anyone. Who is ready to give Ukraine a guarantee of NATO membership? Everyone is afraid,” he added.
Under its martial law Ukraine prohibited all men from 18-60 from leaving because the men are urged to fight for their country.
