Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly titled Prince Andrew and the Prince of York, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct.

According to The Guardian, UK police have been assessing allegations that Mountbatten-Windsor shared sensitive information with convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein when he was a UK trade envoy.

“We have today arrested a man in his 60s from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. The man remains in police custody at this time,” says a statement from Thames Valley police, as reported by The Guardian.

The arrest comes as Mountbatten-Windsor celebrates his birthday.

The 66-year-old former prince was stripped of his titles and evicted from his royal residence, Royal Lodge. This was over his connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

According to the BBC, the Palace said the King “has today initiated a formal process to remove the style, titles and honours of Prince Andrew… [and that] a formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease” on Royal Lodge.”
