  • Authorities have identified Tyler Robinson, 22, as the suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk.
  • Robinson allegedly used a bolt-action rifle to fatally shoot Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University.
  • He faces multiple charges, including aggravated murder and obstruction of justice.

U.S. officials have identified Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident, as the suspect in the fatal shooting of political activist Charlie Kirk.

Robinson was arrested after authorities reviewed surveillance footage, online messages, and interviews with his relatives.

He is expected to face charges of aggravated murder, felony firearm discharge causing serious injury, and obstruction of justice, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Kirk, the 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent conservative figure, was fatally shot on Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University.

Authorities say Robinson used a high-powered, bolt-action rifle from a rooftop about 200 yards (185 meters) away, firing while lying prone for accuracy.

The killing sparked widespread outrage on social media, particularly regarding Kirk’s views on gun violence in the U.S.
