Tyla’s debut album wins big

South African global sensation Tyla has achieved another milestone as her self-titled debut album, Tyla, earns a place on Rolling Stone’s prestigious list of The 250 Greatest Albums of the 21st Century So Far.

Ranked at number 240, the recognition marks a proud moment for the singer and highlights South Africa’s growing impact on global pop and Afrobeats culture.

Rolling Stone’s Mankaprr Conteh praised the project, writing, “Every track carries a piece of her continental home.”

Released in 2024, Tyla captured the singer’s bold artistry and her unique ability to merge Amapiano, Afrobeats, and pop into a smooth, global sound.

Her breakout single Water became a worldwide hit, earning millions of streams and inspiring viral dance challenges that showcased her infectious energy.

The album’s deluxe edition further cemented her international reach with collaborations featuring Gunna, Skillibeng, and Becky G.

Songs like Shake Ah, Push 2 Start, and Back To U revealed her range and confidence as she effortlessly navigated different genres while celebrating her African identity.
