Tyla bags second Grammy nomination for her hit single ‘Push 2 Start’

South African pop star Tyla is proving once again that she’s unstoppable on the world stage.

The Water hitmaker has bagged yet another Grammy nomination, this time in the Best African Music Performance category for her infectious single Push 2 Start.

The 2026 Grammy nod places Tyla alongside some of Africa’s biggest names, including Davido featuring Omah Lay for With You, Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid for Gimme Dat, and Eddy Kenzo with Mehran Matin for Hope & Love.

Push 2 Start captures Tyla’s signature sound; a confident blend of amapiano, pop, R&B, and reggae, carried by her smooth, sultry vocals.

Through the metaphor of starting a car, the song explores themes of momentum, risk, and desire, embodying the rush of taking chances and embracing new beginnings.

Since its release, the track has continued to gain traction across streaming platforms, radio, and social media, reinforcing Tyla’s growing influence as one of Africa’s most exciting global exports.

The nomination adds to an already remarkable journey for the 23-year-old star, whose self-titled debut album “Tyla” (released in 2024) cemented her place in the international music scene.

Her breakout hit Water not only earned her a Grammy win in 2024 but also made history by entering the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first South African solo artist in over five decades to achieve that milestone.
