Tyla surpasses Ayra Starr and Tems on Spotify Nigeria charts

South African pop star Tyla continues to soar to new heights, once again making history on the African music scene.

The Water hitmaker recently achieved another incredible milestone, surpassing Nigerian superstars Ayra Starr and Tems on the Spotify Nigeria charts.

According to an update shared by @Pop_BaseNews on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, the Grammy Award winner has officially become the most-streamed female artist in Nigeria; making her the first South African woman to hold that title.

At just 23, Tyla has continued to prove her global dominance, effortlessly blending pop and amapiano influences to capture audiences around the world.

However, the news sparked mixed reactions online, as some fans found it hard to believe she could outstream two of Nigeria’s biggest stars.

Despite the skepticism, many others flooded social media with congratulatory messages, praising Tyla for her consistent success and for representing South Africa on the world stage.

Her growing list of achievements only cements her position as one of Africa’s leading female artists.
