  • Officers from Graskop SAPS intercepted a Toyota Quantum on Wednesday morning following a credible tip-off.
  • Police discovered over a tonne of cannabis (dagga) inside the vehicle, with an estimated street value of R6 million.
  • Two men, aged 26 and 28, have been arrested and are due to appear in the Graskop Magistrate’s Court on drug trafficking charges.

At approximately 08:00 on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, South African Police Service (SAPS) officers in Graskop, Mpumalanga, acted on intelligence regarding a suspicious Toyota Quantum heading towards the area.

A patrol unit was quickly deployed to monitor the route, eventually spotting the vehicle and placing it under surveillance before moving in to stop it.

A thorough search of the minibus revealed a massive quantity of cannabis, weighing roughly 1,025kg. Authorities estimate the street value of the seizure to be in the region of R6 million.

The two occupants, aged 26 and 28, were arrested at the scene and remain in custody.

They are expected to appear before the Graskop Magistrate’s Court shortly, where they will face charges related to the possession of and dealing in illegal drugs.
