Two Names Recommended To Usuthu As Assistant Coaches

Simo Dladla and Mabhuti Khenyeza have been recommended to AmaZulu as potential new assistant coaches to Pablo Franco Martin.

Usuthu appointed Martin on a three-year contract earlier this week and the Spanish coach comes to the club with no assistant coaches in place.

AmaZulu are in need of assistant coaches after Ayanda Dlamini, who was assistant to Romain Folz and later caretaker, left the club.

Siboniso Vilakazi, who was assistant coach of Dlamini during the last part of last season, is set to go back to his DStv Diski Challenge role.

“Simo Dladla and Khenyeza have been recommended to AmaZulu to be roped in as the assistant coaches. So Usuthu are looking at all options,” said the source.

For Dladla, it would be easy for Usuthu to rope him in because he is a free agent after leaving Venda Football Academy in February this year.

Dladla has also coached in KwaZulu-Natal after stints with Real Kings, Royal AM, Richards Bay and Uthongathi FC. In the top flight football, he had a short spell with Swallows after the departure of Brandon Truter in 2021, after initially working as assistant coach.

However, former Kaizer Chiefs striker Khenyeza he would have to resign at Golden Arrows where he works as co-coach with Vusi Vilakazi, if he wants to take the Usuthu post and join the club for the third time in his career.

After he was released by Golden Arrows in March 2016 following a fall out with Clinton Larsen, Khenyeza joined Usuthu in July 2016 and eventually retired from playing in January 2019, leaving to take over at Maritzburg United as assistant to Muhsin Ertugral.

However, Ertugral failed to win in five matches in charge, and when he was fired, Khenyeza returned back to Usuthu to be assistant coach of Jozef Vukusic in the 2018/19 season.

He then left Usuthu to take over TS Galaxy’s DStv Diski Team between 2020 until 2021.

He returned to Arrows at the beginning of the 2021/22 season after Mandla Ncikazi parted ways with Arrows to join Orlando Pirates.

He and Vilakazi were named as co-coaches at the beginning of last season after Lehlohonolo Seema was sacked in March last year.
