Sundowns head coach Jerry ‘Kappa’ Tshabalala had anticipated a tough battle from crosd-town rivals despite their recent domination.
WHAT TSHABALALA SAID BEFORE THE GAME…
“Yes, we have enjoyed some bragging rights in recent times, but that is a result of keeping focused and switched on at all times. When it comes to the Tshwane Derby, the current form goes out of the window.
“It is a game of huge significance considering that both teams are still in the hunt for the title.
“In the last few weeks, we have played against teams that are looking to dethrone us and TUT is the latest of such teams. They have enjoyed some great performances this season and we must give them kudos for their fight thus far.
“But the more we claim maximum points off the top teams, the better for us. We need to significantly open that gap at the top of the table and victory against TUT Ladies will strengthen our cause. We need to be clinical on Sunday and we are working hard on that in training.”
Elsewhere, on a dramatic day at in Cape Town, Vasco Da Gama thrashed Golden Ladies 4-1 to secure the much-needed need three points to increase chances to move away from the relegation zone.
