Tumi Tladi’s Family Confirms His Death

The South African hip-hop community has suffered yet another loss following the death of rapper Itumeleng George Tladi, better known as Tumi Tladi, on Sunday 10 July. The rapper died in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to the Tladi family. The rapper was 30 years old.

Tumi Tladi dominated the hip-hop scene after beginning his career as a dancer. In 2021, he was named to MTV Base’s SA’s Hottest MC’s 2021 New Wave list. He has worked with Nadia Nakai, Moozile, Rouge, MustbeDubz, and Tyler ICU over the years.

The family confirmed his sudden passing in a statement shared with SurgeZirc SA by Tutone Communications.

The family said: “The family of SA hip-hop artist Itumeleng George Tladi today (Sunday) confirmed with profound sadness and loss his untimely passing.

“Known by his stage name Tumi Tladi, he was deeply loved by his family, friends and the entertainment industry as a whole.”

The family requested they be afforded time to wrap their heads around the his passing. “The Tladi family humbly request privacy during their period of grieving and ask that you please keep them in your prayers.”

Details of the rapper’s funeral will be announced at a later stage.
