AmaTuks have confirmed a ‘horrible’ incident that unfolded in Cape Town ahead of facing Cape Town Spurs in a game that could prove pivotal in the title race.
The GladAfrica Championship title-chasers travelled to the Mother City this past weekend to face relegation-threatened side Spurs.
The Tshwane-based side knew anything less than a win won’t be good enough as they came to this game level on points with Richards Bay. On the other side, Spurs also had to fight with everything they have to save themselves from being relegated.
Before even the 90 minutes of drama in which they drew 2-2 at Athlone Stadium, there was a drama that occurred behind the scenes as Tuks players had a problem after eating supper, which iDiski Times has learnt left some players needing to be hospitalised.
According to Tuks head coach Tlisane Motaung players complained about stomach cramps in the middle of the night and they were in and out of the bathroom. When we spoke with the coach he explained that they don’t know what exactly happened but it was a horrible incident.
“We don’t know what happened, but we arrived in Cape Town on Saturday we had supper at the hotel then in the middle of the night some players had stomach bug then they called our physio to say they got a running stomach… and going to the breakfast in the morning some were running in and out the toilet,” he confirmed to iDiski Times.
“Our medical team did their best to help even, the physio was struggling with the stomach bug. We went to the game some were still struggling to a point where if I don’t know you were watching the game you saw our captain Singnikhi Mpedi was substituted because of that also at the airport the guys were still struggling, it was just a horrible incident.”
Tuks will now face Hungry Lions on the last day of the season two points off the Natal Rich Boys, who will face Spurs in a thrilling finale for promotion to the DStv Premiership.
