TTM ordered to pay former goalkeeper Sibanda R600K

Zimbabwean international goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda has won his dispute against his former club Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM). 

Sibanda took TTM to FIFA over a breach of contract. The 35-year-old spent the past season at the Motsepe Foundation Championship but quit in the middle of the season due to unpaid salaries.

He took the matter to the world football mother body and the club was subsequently ordered to pay the player.

RULING IN SIBANDA FAVOUR

According to the ruling in FARPost possession, TTM are required to pay an amount of R 600 000 failure of which they will face dire consequences.

“Pursuant to art. 24 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, if full payment (including all applicable interest) is not made within 45 days of notification of this decision, the following consequences shall apply:

1. The Respondent shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid. The maximum duration of the ban shall be of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods.

2. The present matter shall be submitted, upon request, to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the event that full payment (including all applicable interest) is still not made by the end of the three entire and consecutive registration periods.

“The consequences shall only be enforced at the request of the Claimant in accordance with art. 24 par. 7 and 8 and art. 25 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.”

Sibanda joined the Limpopo club following two seasons in KwaZulu Natal with Golden Arrows. Prior to the Arrows stint, Sibanda was at now defunct Mpumalanga based side Witbank Spurs. His last match for TTM was during the 2-1 win against Pretoria Callies in a league match.

TTM are currently seventh on the Motsepe Foundation Championship log with nine matches played.
