Tshwane’s water system remains healthy, residents urged to continue using water sparingly

The City of Tshwane has called on residents to continue to use water sparingly as the city’s overall water supply system remains healthy, with sustained recovery observed across most reservoirs and supply zones.

Tshwane’s spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says the network is largely stable and performing within acceptable levels.

“In Region 1, the Mabopane Main Reservoir has recorded a slight decline but remains within acceptable levels (still below 50%). Mabopane Central Reservoir is stable. The Mabopane Reservoir remains critically low and continues to be closely monitored.

Encouragingly, the Soshanguve L Reservoir has fully recovered, and all areas supplied directly from the reservoir and via the Soshanguve L Tower are receiving water. Soshanguve DD also remains stable.

In Regions 3 and 4, all reservoirs are stable with none currently at critical levels,” said Mashigo.

Residents are still urged to use water sparingly to help maintain stability and support ongoing recovery in the remaining constrained areas.

The recovery comes after a week of strain and pressure on the city’s water supply system, following Rand Water’s warnings that Pretoria residents are using water above normal.
