A Tshwane Metro Police officer has been arrested for possession of and dealing in drugs.
Major General Samuel Thine, the District Commissioner of Tshwane, praised the officers involved in the arrest, saying that no one is above the law.
The arrest took place after the Pretoria Central Crime Prevention and Reaction Team carried out an operation on Wednesday afternoon in Edmond Street, near a local hospital.
During the operation, officers saw two suspects approach a Tshwane Metro Police vehicle. The officers quickly realised that the Metro Police officer was working with the drug dealers and acted fast to arrest them.
One suspect managed to escape by running into a stormwater drain, but the remaining suspects resisted arrest.
They even attempted to smear the officers with human waste, but the officers still managed to arrest them.
A search of the Metro Police vehicle uncovered drugs and cash. The suspects are now facing charges of drug possession and dealing and will appear in court soon.
Major General Thine said that anyone breaking the law, no matter their position, would be held accountable.
