TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic has denied reports that his players have not been paid, saying how come they displayed a good showing as they beat AmaZulu on Saturday.
Galaxy defeated Usuthu 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium with striker Junior Traore scoring twice to see Romain Folz lose his first home league game with AmaZulu since he was appointed in October.
The loss also came a day after Folz had signed a new three-year deal with Usuthu that will come into effect as of next season.
Romovic, meanwhile, was asked about the rumours of payment issues at his club, insisting what has been written was “nonsense” and is tarnishing the image of the club.
It was widely reported that Galaxy had erred in not paying players, leading to the South African Football Players Union (SAFPU) to get involved in trying to get hold of club boss Tim Sukazi.
“What was written a lot about not paying and other things, I can clearly say, everything that has been said is nonsense. Nothing is true there,” said Ramovic whose side moved to seventh on the table.
“Our players, do you really believe, if they did not get paid, they can put this kind of effort on the field? No.
“So everything that was written was not true. They were making things. I don’t know what it is. We don’t want to spend so much time on this nonsense because our chairman is a beautiful guy.”
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos and assistant Helman Mkhalele were in the stands as Galaxy floored AmaZulu.
Ramovic, without fear or favour, said Given Msimango deserves to get the national team call up, as Bafana play two crucial matches against Liberia next month in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“Let me be honest, Given is one of the best central defenders in South Africa,” he added.
“I think he really, really deserves a call up, but I’m not a [Bafana] coach. I would wish that he also gets a chance to show himself at the national team because he is a smart guy who is really working hard.

“He has played consistently well.”
Meanwhile, Ramovic confirmed that Ebrahim Seedat is back in training after overcoming an injury, with the player’s last appearance coming against SuperSport United in August last year where he scored in a 2-0 victory.
“Seedat has started training now and he came back from the injury. Bathusi Aubaas is also back,” Ramovic said.
