Truter – The Players Ran Their Socks Off

After booking their place in the MTN8 semi-finals with a 2-1 win, AmaZulu head coach Brandon Truter praised his players after a hard-fought 120 minutes against Cape Town City.

The match at Athlone Stadium had finished 1-1 after 90 minutes before Lehlohonolo Majoro grabbed the extra-time winner against his former team.

While City dominated possession and had more efforts at goal, it was Usuthu who proved to be more the clinical of the sides, and Truter was full of praise for the will to win that his team showed.

“Ja, it’s always difficult coming to Cape Town, playing Cape Town City here,” Truter said in the post-match press conference.

We knew what was expected, we knew City will move the ball and will dominate position, and what was clear even from Wednesday, after that result, we had to win.

“I’m just thankful and happy for the boys to change their mentality coming into this game. And the will and the want to win tonight was awesome.

“Ja, we managed to get the first goal and then conceded at a very crucial moment and then came in halftime and then we had to start all over again.

“But I’m thankful for the boys, they stuck to the plan. They knew exactly what we will need to do to get the result today as well. Some of them actually ran their socks off tonight and I can’t for more.

“But for us, it’s 120 minutes, it’s sore muscles, some injuries, we have to get back to Durban, recover,

look at what we have available for our next game and luckily we have some time until we get to our next game.”

In this edition of iDiski Times, we hear from Kaizer Chiefs legend Bernard Parker after his move from Naturena to TS Galaxy. We also talk to Katlego Otladisa who, among other things, touches on the social media stir he was involved in around transfer rumours.
