Truter Sets Ambitious Targets For Sekhukhune

Brandon Truter says Sekhukhune United will try hard to compete for both a top-eight spot and to go further in the Nedbank Cup where they’re in the semi-finals.

United are currently in sixth position on the DStv Premiership, tied on 35 points with Cape Town City in fifth place from 26 matches.

The Babina Noko head coach had said earlier in the season that his side is a top-four contender and they are now six points from that and could also sneak into the CAF spots in the last four matches.

Truter says they are approaching their remaining matches including the last-four tie, like cup finals.

“For us at this moment we are not thinking too far ahead. For us, it’s about the next game and I think if we accumulate enough points we will get there,” Truter said.

“Yes it’s either the top four or the Nedbank Cup we will compete on both fronts and we will see where we go at the end of the day.

“It’s the mentality of a Cup final every game. AmaZulu as well at home, we have to go there and prove our credentials to get into the top 8 to get into the top four.

“That’s for us to prove it’s another test. Then we’ve got Galaxy and then we have Pirates and we still have SuperSport.

“So it’s all cup finals for us. Even the semi-final that’s our cup final so, we will keep on playing and keep on grinding results. And we are always looking to improve.”

Sekhukhune have AmaZulu and TS Galaxy in the league before their semi-final clash against Stellenbosch next month.
