Truter Sends Clear Message Ahead Of Swallows Return

AmaZulu interim coach Brandon Truter admits he wants to send a message against his former club Swallows when he returns to Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday.

Truter was sacked by the club, who are in real threat of relegation, earlier this season – but has since returned to the dugout after replacing Benni McCarthy at Usuthu.

‘Brakkies’ has since steadied the ship at the Durban-based outfit who were struggling to balance their CAF Champions League commitments with the league fixtures in a gruelling schedule.

With two wins and a draw from his first three games in charge in the league, there have even been whispers that he may be retained beyond the end of the season and ahead of facing the Dube Birds – he suggested he’s targetting a statement victory.

“It’s a difficult one being my former team, it’s a team playing for survival, a team that needs to win, it’s a team that is fighting,” Truter said.

“It’s going to be a difficult opponent, the conditions as well at Dobsonville – I know the pitch is going to be our previous game against Royal AM, it’s going to be heavy.

“But the boys are ready, it’s three out of three, seven out of [a possible] nine points available and we’d like to continue our unbeaten streak, we’d like to continue not conceding, we’d like to continue winning this game away from home.

“We’re going full of confidence, we’re going there wanting the points on offer, so it’s a big opponent to face at this stage, it’s sentimental for me as well, I want to win this game and I made it clear to the players.

“Three points is a must against Swallows. It is a team that poses a threat in attack, they have been scoring in most games but they also concede a lot, where we will be hoping to capitalise.”
