  • A truck driver died after colliding with multiple vehicles on the N3 near Peacevale on Sunday.
  • No other injuries were reported, and the road was temporarily closed for emergency services.
  • Authorities say KZN recorded an increase in truck accidents over the weekend.

A truck driver has died after his vehicle collided with five cars and burst into flames on the N3 near Peacevale and Cliffdale on Sunday evening.

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma, has sent condolences to the family of the deceased, confirming that no other injuries were reported. 

The N3 northbound was closed while emergency services attended to the scene, managing traffic and clearing the wreckage.

“In addition, the Member of Parliament Hon Sizophila Mkhize witnessed two accidents involving trucks in Vryheid and Newcastle today.  We salute RTI and other emergency personnel who provided services which included traffic management and the clearing of the accident scene”.

KZN saw an increase in the number of accidents involving trucks this past weekend.
