Transfer news: Italian giants chasing Mbekezeli Mbokazi

Bafana Bafana and Chicago Fire defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi has reportedly caught the eye of Italian giants Napoli.

The 20-year-old impressed at the 2026 FIFA World Cup where he played a huge role in Bafana getting out of their group.

Having signed for Chicago Fire from Orlando Pirates, Mbokazi could once again be on a move.

His agent, Basia Michaels, has shared her thoughts on the ex-Pirates star being linked with Napoli.

“If Napoli is interested we would definitely want to hear from them,” Michaels told SoccerBeat.

“I wouldn’t say Fire want to sell the player but they won’t hold him back when the right offer comes along.

“The translator definitely misunderstood me, but that makes sense because the rumours in Italy have many people excited to have Mbokazi play in Serie A.”

Mbokazi could be on a move again

“Which by all means is something that we welcome and we would jump at the right opportunity as long as it ticks all the necessary boxes to ensure he can continue to grow in the prestigious European markets ensuring longevity over his career,” she said.

A move to Napoli could be big especially given his age. Serie A is known for making good defenders and the 20-year-old will benefit from those programmes and training methods.

Mbokazi signed for Chicago Fire in December and made his debut earlier this year. He will likely finish the season with the MLS side before making a big move to Europe in the January transfer.

Should TLB move to Serie A?
