Tanzania giants Young Africans face a FIFA transfer ban after failing to pay Belgian coach Luc Eymael’s compensation for unfair dismissal.

The former Free State Stars and Polokwane City coach won the case of unfair dismissal in October 2022.

The Tanzania champions were ordered to pay him a sum of US$152,000 for unfairly dismissing him two years ago.

The club’s management then made an arrangement to pay the money in five instalments, with the first set for October.

According to information reaching FARPost, they paid two tranches of the fee in October and November 2022.

The development means they still owe Eymael US$99 000 plus a penalty fee of US$5 000.

Earlier this month, FIFA wrote to the Jangwani giants, giving them until 23 March 2023 to respond.

The club now faces a ban from signing players for three consecutive transfer windows and possible exclusion from participating in CAF club competitions next season.

“Pursuant to art 8 of Annexe 2 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, if full payment (including all applicable interest) is not made within 45 days of notification of this decision, the following consequences shall apply,” read the original determination.

“The Respondent shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid. The maximum duration of the ban shall be of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods.

“The present matter shall be submitted, upon request, to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the event that full payment (including all applicable interest) is still not made by the end of the entire and consecutive registration periods.”

Yanga’s decision to sack the 63-year-old coach following a draw with a 1-1 draw with Mtibwa Sugar FC backfired.

The Jwangani-based club informed the Belgian about the dismissal through a letter for what they called “unsporting remarks” on Monday, July 27, 2020.
