Tragic accident claims three lives in Eastern Cape

Three people were killed when their vehicle overturned on the R410 at the Dubeni location near Cacadu in the Eastern Cape on Friday.

Provincial transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose says the vehicle had five occupants when the driver lost control, leaving three people dead at the scene, while two others suffered critical injuries and were rushed to hospital.

Binqose says a culpable homicide inquest has been opened, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

“This tragic accident reminds us once more that losing control of a vehicle, whether due to speed, fatigue or any other factor, can have devastating consequences, as we have seen in this incident. For that reason, we are urging road users, motorists in particular, to remain alert at all times and ensure that every journey is taken with safety as the top priority.”
