Another traffic law enforcement officer has lost his life after being bumped by a minibus taxi on the N2 road in Mpumalanga.
Forty-nine-year-old Dumisane Ndlovu was conducting a routine stop-and-check on the road when the minibus taxi struck him on Thursday.
He was unfortunately declared dead at the scene.
Community Safety, Security and Liaison spokesperson Moeti Mmusi says Ndlovu is the fourth law enforcement officer to lose his life on the same stretch of road under similar circumstances.
“A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.”
MEC Jackie Macie says the department is devastated.
“We don’t have enough traffic officers to police our roads. Losing one officer cripples our efforts to enhance road safety,” he said.
The MEC expressed his condolences to Ndlovu’s family, friends and colleagues.
