Job summary

We are looking for a Traffic Officer Grade III

Duties will entail: The enforcement of the Road Traffic Act 1993 of 1996 and the National Land and Transport Act 5/2009 and various other legislation to ensure road safety
• The enforcement of Municipal by-laws to ensure it is adhered to
• Educating scholars
• Conducting road blocks with SAPS other relevant parties by closing the roads with traffic signs
• Regulate and control traffic
• Attend court proceedings and provide evidence in court
• Attending accident scenes
• Examining of learners and driving license
• Escorting
• Tactical stop and pursuit
• Safe scholar/ learner transport.

Applicants must be in possession of Grade 12
• Traffic Diploma
• Diploma for Examiner of Vehicles
• Diploma for Examiner of Driving Licences
• 1-3 years ‘relevant experience
• Code B driver’s licence
• Must work as per operational requirement which includes weekends and public holidays
• Must do traffic standby duties when required

• Must attend SAPS meetings when necessary
• Must have good health status
• Good public relations
• Must work in varying weather conditions
• Must be able to handle conflict well
• Must work shifts and varying working hours
• Good communication skills in two of the three official Western Cape languages.
