Tottenham Hotspur Yves Bissouma has sent an emotional message of encouragement to Zambia international Enock Mwepu. This comes after the midfield maestro was forced to retire from playing football due to a heart problem.
The 24-year-old’s club, Brighton and Hove Albion, broke the sad news earlier this week. The news had the football fraternity globally saddened by what had happened to Mwepu. He was playing his football at his highest and was promising to improve.
The duo [Bissouma and Mwepu] come a long way together. They were teammates at Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion before Bissouma made a switch to Spurs in the summer transfer window.
Bissouma took it to social media to encourage his former teammate and African brother to stay strong during the difficult situation.
“My brother, I am wholehearted with you and your family in this situation. I am sure you will not give up and that despite the pain of this news, you will find the resources to come out stronger than ever,” Bissouma posted on social media.
“This news breaks my heart, but knowing that you will never give up like you did to realise your dream and succeed in playing football in England in the hardest championship in the world is that you are a winner.
“I know that you will win this battle and that you will find a way to prove to the world which champion you are. One love, my brother @enockmwepu.”
Mwepu, who linked with the club in the 2021/22 season from Red Bull Salzburg, was starting to cement his place in The Seagulls lineup. In the 2022/23 Premier League season, he had so far made six appearances and provided one assist.
