Top 10 Golden Boot goal scorers

Posted on January 29, 2026

The 2025/26 Betway Premiership season has now passed its halfway mark for the majority of teams since play resumed after AFCON 2025.

The mad scramble for bragging rights as the country’s top goal scorer is back on.

Last season, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Lucas Ribeiro Costa proved to be the deadliest striker in the country with 16 goals.

It’s unlikely that anyone will break – or come even close – the all-time PSL record of 25 goals held by Zambia’s Collins Mbesuma while playing for Kaizer Chiefs in the 2004/05 season.

Fast start

Veteran striker Bradley Grobler has made a fast start to the season at his new club, Sekhukhune United.

Grobler, now 38, has found the back of the net six times in 14 matches this campaign.

He trails Junior Dion from Golden Arrows by a single goal.

Grobler joined Sekhukhune United from SuperSport United when Matsatsantsa were sold at the conclusion of last season.

He played 293 matches for SuperSport United in all competitions, scoring 91 goals.

Previous winner

Prior to that, the Johannesburg-born former Bafana Bafana marksman played for Platinum Stars (67 matches, 20 goals) and Ajax Cape Town (13 matches, 4 goals) in South Africa, as well as Turkish second division side Göztepe A.Ş (29 matches, 6 goals).

Grobler was a previous Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award winner in the 2020/21 season when he netted on 16 occasions.

It would take a brave man to bet against Grobler not repeating that feat this season.
