Tinkler – We’ve Come To The Business End

Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler says that AmaZulu will be a tough challenge on the weekend, as every team has something to play for as the DStv Premiership reaches the business end.

City are currently second, and a victory could move them closer to securing that spot and potentially qualify for next season’s CAF Champions League.

Meanwhile, AmaZulu are seventh and looking to secure their place in the top eight, while their interim coach Brandon Truter is also looking to secure the head coach role at Usuthu for next season.

Tinkler knows that Truter’s team will be another big challenge for his team, but he is looking for City to continue their momentum, and build on their unbeaten streak in the league this year.

“No, they’re gonna be tough, we’ve come to the business end of the season right now where everybody’s looking to finish off strong, whether it be in the top four, whether it be in the top eight, whether to be it avoid relegation, or whether it be whether you’re going to be keeping your job or not, that’s just the harsh reality of professional football,” Tinkler told the media.

“So, for us, it’s important to focus on ourselves, to rely on no one, but ourselves. And continue obviously what we’ve been doing since the turn of the year, which is believing in ourselves, working at a high intensity, the unity that we have within the squad, and the confidence that we currently have in our own ability, but we know it’s going to be a tough game.

“Because AmaZulu are a good team with a lot of talented players. And again, we’re going to have to be at our best, because doesn’t matter who you playing last week, we played TS Galaxy and they’re bottom of the log and you saw how difficult the game was.

“So you’re gonna expect an even harder challenge against AmaZulu.”
