Tinkler – We All Sitting Here Trying To Put Pressure On Sundowns

Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler didn’t mince his words when he said that the objective for all 15 teams is to put pressure on Mamelodi Sundowns, not forgetting his own objectives and aims.

Sundowns have been dominating the Premier Soccer League over the past decade, which is something that is obviously not sitting well with their competitors. In the last ten years, Masandawana managed to collect seven league titles and they were runners-up on two occasions.

Tinkler told the media about their objectives and aims for the upcoming season of 2022/23 which is set to kick off in a few days. He mentioned that it’s simple, they will try to put pressure on Sundowns and try to close the gap. The former Orlando Pirates coach even mentioned that all 15 teams sitting in the press conference are there to put pressure on Downs.

“Difficult to beat what we achieved last season, but obviously our objectives and our aims remain what they were last season finishing in that top four and obviously to put pressure on Sundowns and I think that’s [what] all sitting here trying to do [to] put pressure on Sundowns,” Tinkler said at the DStv Premiership launch

The Citizens will officially open their season against the defending champions in Cape Town. These two sides shared the spoils in both league games last season, both ending in goalless draws.
