Cape Town City head Eric Tinkler gave an update on injured Lebogang Manyama and Thabo Nodada after the early MTN8 exit at the hands of AmaZulu.

City got knocked out of the MTN8 by AmaZulu on Saturday by 2-1 after extra time with Lehlohonolo Majoro scoring deep into the last half of extra time.

Eric Tinkler’s side will now shift their focus back into the DStv Premiership and TotalEnergies CAF Champions League as they have a lot on their plate.

Tinkler shared some light on Manyama who has been training with the team and agreed on a one-year deal with the Citizens. The 31-year-old is yet to be unveiled by City as he’s still injured. Tinkler explained that he might return in two months’ time.

“Lebo is going for an appointment on Monday with the doctor, for the doctor then to tell us exactly where it is in terms of his rehabilitation but I don’t see it being soon that he’ll be back, maybe another month or two possible before we see Lebo Manyama back in action but that’s me. The doctor might tell us something different,” he said after the game in the post-match press conference.

Meanwhile, Nodada who has been a starter for City has been sidelined in the last two games coming in as a substitute against Kaizer Chiefs with less than five minutes to go, City coach admitted that he got a knock but Cameroonian international Ambina Fidèle Brice has been doing well Thato Mokeke is also doing well. He stated that a competition is taking place for his team.

“Thabo started the season very very well then he picked up a knock then an injury then he was out unfortunately for Brice started playing very well, Thato Mokeke was doing well now that’s what competition is all about is waiting for your opportunity when it comes you grab it with both hands then ensure others are the ones on the other end of the stick.”
