Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler praised new assistant Lebogang Manyama’s input after the team claimed three points against Kaizer Chiefs away from home.

With the victory on Tuesday, City won back-to-back league matches for the second time this season. The Citizens recently roped Manyama as part of the club’s technical team, Tinkler praised the former club captain claiming that he still has the mentality of a player.

“Plenty, Plenty because Lebo still thinks like a player, and obviously Lebo is a player that has worked with me before as a player and he comes with that same energy he used to have as a player that same leadership that he use to have as a player.” Tinkler told SupersportTV.

“He is not only coming here to be the friend because when he was my captain he used to be harsh on them. It’s not only me who is instilling discipline, he is instilling the discipline and reminding the players what we as the players have achieved in the past and right now we need to be looking in that direction not where we find ourselves where we find ourselves now.”

The Cape Town based side moved to fifth place on the DStv Premiership league table with 13 points after nine matches, just one point off second place but 11 points behind table toppers Mamelodi Sundowns.

Their next encounter is against Richards Bay in two weeks’ time.
