Second-placed Cape Town City are unbeaten in the DStv Premiership in 2022, and head coach Eric Tinkler has praised his team’s intensity and attitude in the second half of the campaign.
City are unbeaten in their last 12 league games, winning seven and drawing five, since the DStv Premiership resumed in February.
When asked by iDiskiTimes journalist Rob Delport at City’s training on Wednesday about their recent consistency, and how the players have responded, Tinkler was full of praise for his squad, saying they are taking the responsibility and are showing a strong belief in the team.
“The intensity in training has been really, really good,” Tinkler responded.
“And I think also like today in the training session, the tactical work, players are asking questions, and when they ask questions, that’s good.
“That’s good, it means that there’s interest, they care, they have a belief in what we want to do, and they want to make sure that we do the right things come match day.

“And what I’m hearing more in the changing rooms is players getting upset with each other when people are underperforming.
“And that cannot only be the coach’s job, the players themselves also need to take responsibility, and that’s something I wanted to build when I got to the club at the beginning of the season.
“Everybody needs to take responsibility and important to remember, no one is more important than the team.”
