Tinkler – I Think It’s Disgraceful

Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler has disagreed with what happened a week ago when SuperSport broadcasters placed a recording device on SuperSport United’s head coach Gavin Hunt during the Tshwane derby.

Hunt was recorded giving instructions to his players while the game was on during their 2-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns. It didn’t only end there as during halftime cameras went into the Matsatsantsa dressing room to show the coach giving instructions to the players.

Tinkler didn’t fold when he was asked about the situation. The City coach felt like it was a disgrace because people are here to watch football, not to the coach or listen to the coach during the game.

“I think it’s disgraceful, because how can you be putting a camera on the coach, what are we here for, we watching the football,” Tinkler said after the midweek draw against Sekhukhune United.

“We are not here to watch the coach and hear what the coach is saying. No, I disagree with that.”

A few years ago, former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane shared the same view when the camera stayed on his face during the game and he mentioned that as a disgrace also. The incident happened when Downs faced Chippa United in the MTN8 semi-final back in 2016.

“I’m disappointed with the camera guy, this guy puts the camera on my face,” Mosimane said after the game.

“SuperSport help us, you can’t put a camera on my face, trigger our emotions after a beautiful football game like this, so bring professionals.

“He won’t get a reaction and then I push the camera away and then Pitso is going to be fined and then it’s Pitso again.”
