Thuso Mbedu

Award-winning South African actress Thuso Mbedu has taken a moment to reflect on growth, unity and purpose after being recognised at the prestigious Forbes Women Africa Awards.

The international star shared a glimpse into the memorable evening on Instagram, posting elegant snaps from the ceremony while expressing heartfelt gratitude for the honour.

In her caption, Mbedu described the experience as deeply inspiring and meaningful.

“Thank you @forbeswomanafrica for this beautiful honor. Last night left me so inspired,” she wrote.

The actress also gave fans insight into her acceptance speech, using the moment to highlight the importance of collaboration over competition in today’s world.

According to Mbedu, success should not come at the cost of isolation, but rather through shared knowledge, resources and support.

“What we all do, regardless of the field we’re in, requires resilience but it doesn’t necessarily always require isolation. Collaborating in skill, resources and expertise will take you further than you can imagine,” she said.

She went on to encourage a culture of empowerment, urging individuals to uplift one another and create opportunities that extend beyond personal success.

“Let’s help each other build the tables we want seats at. Let’s help each other open the doors we want to see ourselves walk through. Let’s help each other create opportunities that will be enjoyed by generations to come,” Mbedu added.

Closing her message on a reflective note, the star referenced a Bible verse, reminding her audience of the value of perseverance and faith.

“Asingapheli amandla: ‘And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.’ (Galatians 6:9),” she said, before once again thanking Forbes Africa for the recognition.

Mbedu ended with a hopeful outlook, expressing her desire to one day return with tangible proof of the impact of collaboration, hinting at a future shaped not only by individual excellence but by collective progress.
