Three suspects to appear in court for Dawn Park CIT robbery and murder

Three suspects arrested in connection with a cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery and murder in Dawn Park, east of Johannesburg, are expected to appear in court on Monday.
On Thursday, 11 September 2025, an integrated multidisciplinary team comprising various law enforcement agencies arrested two suspects linked to the robbery and murder that took place on 1 September 2025.
A third suspect was later apprehended in possession of an unlicensed R5 rifle with its serial number filed off, along with two magazines of live ammunition.
The robbery turned deadly when a shootout broke out between law enforcement and suspects, leaving two suspects injured and tragically claiming the lives of two bystanders.
The three suspects are scheduled to appear in separate courts on Monday, 15 September 2025, two at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court and the third at the Pretoria North Court.
During the arrests, two vehicles were seized. A white BMW was confirmed to have been hijacked in Randfontein in June 2025, while a grey Mercedes-Benz was found to be clear on the system.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
