Orlando Pirates’ top stories of the week feature Cemran Dansin, Evidence Makgopa and Tshepang Moremi.

After the deflating loss to Saint-Eloi Lupopo in the CAF Champions League, the Buccaneers needed to quickly dust themselves off to face Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout quarterfinals.

An extraordinary left-foot strike by Moremi and a peachy low shot by Makgopa took the Buccaneers past Magesi into the CKO semifinals.

NEW ORLANDO PIRATES ALTERNATIVE KIT

Just hours before facing Dikwena tša Meetse in Soweto on Tuesday, the mighty Buccaneers pulled a surprise on their fan base: the third alternative kit was unveiled.

“adidas and Orlando Pirates Football Club are proud to unveil the Club’s special edition Third Jersey, a bold new chapter in South African football design and culture,” the club said.

CEMRAN DANSIN PRODUCES MAGIC IN MAMELODI SUNDOWNS TERRITORY

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou stunned us all on Saturday. The 20-year-old midfielder, Dansin, who earned his first start as a professional against Magesi, made the starting 11 against the champions at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The former Transnet School of Excellence star produced the finest moment of his career. With Orlando Pirates on the ropes after Mamelodi Sundowns’ lead through Peter Shalulile, Dansin hit a world-class volley with his weaker left foot that hit the underside of the crossbar before hitting the net. Leaving Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams standing dead still and Sipho Mbule open-mouthed.
