Orlando Pirates have made a big splash in the transfer market with 15 players exiting the club and 12 fresh faces arriving.

The recruitment drive is predominantly focused on bringing in young talent.

Here’s a recap.

Orlando Pirates news: Sesane, Mbokazi, MTN8 final

Orlando Pirates bring in 12 new players

12 new faces have arrived at Orlando Pirates. Midfield magician Sipho Mbule and Bafana winger Oswin Appollis are the headline arrivals. Tshepho Mashiloane and Nkosikhona Ndaba add depth in the full-back areas, while 22-year-old Lebone Seema has settled straight into the side, looking comfortable at centre back. Mbule adds quality and experience in the creative midfield areas, while Sihle Nduli’s intelligence at the base of midfield could also prove to be a wonderstroke. Masindi Nemtajela could be his eventual successor in the engine room after signing from Marumo Gallants. Malian schemer Abdoulaye Mariko from Djoloba FC is also an interesting acquisition.

More spark for Orlando Pirates

Tshepang Moremi from AmaZulu and Oswin Appollis will add directness and goal threat from wide attacking areas. Bafana star Sinoxolo Kwayiba is highly regarded as a number 10, while Yanele Mbuthuma from Richards Bay has the raw ingredients to be a top-tier PSL striker. Arguably their best signing of the window, however, is 22-year-old Kamogelo Sebelebele from TS Galaxy. The winger has excelled, scoring in both MTN8 semi-finals against Sundowns. He also scored the only goal in a 1-0 league win over Stellenbosch on 20 August, playing in the number 10 role that day.

MTN8 final is next for champions Orlando Pirates

Mbombela Stadium plays host to this season’s MTN8 final, where Orlando Pirates meet Stellenbosch on Saturday, 13 September. Kickoff is at 18:00. New signing Kamogelo Sebelebele scored in both semi-finals against Sundowns, and he was the only goal-scorer when Pirates beat Stellenbosch in the league on 20 August.
