  • Three men were found shot dead inside a silver Hyundai i20 in Imizamo Yethu, Hout Bay.
  • Police suspect extortion may be linked to the triple murder.
  • Detectives are pursuing all leads as the Western Cape commissioner condemns the violence.

The police are investigating after the bodies of three unidentified men were discovered inside a silver Hyundai i20 at Imizamo Yethu informal settlement, in Hout Bay on Tuesday, 14 October 2025.

According to a statement released by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape, the victims were found at approximately 11:45 PM in Holomisa Square.

They had all sustained gunshot wounds.

Police are still investigating the motive behind the triple murder, but say extortion may have played a role.

Meanwhile, detectives from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit are following all leads to track down those responsible.

Condemning the act, Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General (Adv) Thembisile Patekile, said:

“The level of violence displayed in this incident is deeply concerning.

“We urge community members to work with us by providing any information that could assist in tracking down those behind this crime.”
