Dan Malesela is known for moving between teams in the PSL. Now, he is back for the third time in the past three years as head coach of Marumo Gallants.
“The appointment comes as part of Gallants’ efforts to strengthen the technical team and address delays in finalising the squad for the upcoming season,” Gallants said in a statement.
“Malesela, a seasoned South African coach, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to Marumo Gallants.”
The 59-year-old has also coached Chippa United three times before.
Now, he is replacing Dylan Kerr, who disagreed with the co-coaching idea suggested by the team.
Malesela joins other coaches like Vladislav Heric, Duncan Lechesa and Lehlohonolo Seema, who have coached the same club multiple times in the PSL.
Internationally, he is similar to Martin Allen, who coached Barnet, an English fifth-tier team, five times.
Similarly, Jupp Heynckes coached Bayern Munich four times, making Malesela’s repeated returns notable.
