  • Thembinkosi Lorch has secured a transfer to 18-time Libyan champions Al Ittihad Tripoli from Wydad AC.
  • The South African winger dominated in Morocco, netting five goals and four assists in just 11 matches.
  • Al Ittihad beat rivals Al Ahli Tripoli to his signature, also signing Lorch’s teammate Stéphane Aziz Ki.

Thembinkosi Lorch is set to leave Wydad AC for Libyan giants Al Ittihad Tripoli following a prolific but brief spell in Morocco.

Despite joining Wydad from Mamelodi Sundowns only months ago, Lorch’s nine goal contributions in 11 games made him the target of a high-stakes North African transfer battle.

Al Ittihad, currently unbeaten at the top of their league, successfully hijacked a late bid from local rivals Al Ahli Tripoli to finalise the deal.

In a double swoop for the Tripoli-based side, Lorch will be joined by fellow Wydad star Stéphane Aziz Ki.

The move consolidates Al Ittihad’s status as Libya’s premier club as they look to extend their record-breaking 18 league titles.

Lorch will play his final match for Wydad this Sunday before relocating to Tripoli to join his new teammates.
