Thembinkosi Lorch set to leave Libya, could Kaizer Chiefs pounce?

Former Orlando Pirates winger Thembinkosi Lorch is reportedly on his way out of Al Ittihad Tripoli after just a few months with the Libyan club.

The 33-year-old South African attacker could be on the move again after joining Al Ittihad in February. His spell in Libya looks set to be short-lived, potentially leaving the former Bafana Bafana international searching for another club.

Lorch joined Al Ittihad after spending a year with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca. His time in Morocco included a memorable goal at the FIFA Club World Cup, and he appeared to have settled well before making a surprise move to Libya.

With his future at Al Ittihad uncertain, Lorch could potentially become a free agent.

There has also been speculation that the experienced attacker could attract interest from clubs in the Botola Pro League following his performances for Wydad. A return to Morocco could therefore be an option if he decides against returning to South Africa.

Could Lorch return to the PSL?

A move back to the Premier Soccer League would also be intriguing.

A return to Mamelodi Sundowns appears unlikely, while a reunion with Orlando Pirates may also be difficult to see at this stage. However, Lorch could potentially emerge as an option for Kaizer Chiefs.

Lorch has a strong record against Amakhosi, having scored six goals against Chiefs during his time with Pirates. His experience, versatility and familiarity with the South African game could make him an interesting player should Chiefs decide to explore the market.

For now, Nyoso’s next destination remains uncertain, but his expected departure from Al Ittihad could put the experienced attacker back on the transfer radar.
