Football’s greatest league got underway with great goals and exhilarating atmospheres as Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all began their campaigns with three points.

The Red Devils left it late on Friday night football with new signing Joshua Zirkzee coming off the bench to steal all the headlines with a late winner over Fulham.

Erik Ten Hag stole the limelight in press conference week prior to the big kick off with his remarks about his players not being ready for the new season.

While Fulham played a good game away from home, United still managed to get over the line, though.

Saturday’s action began at the home of newly promoted Ipswich Town. With Liverpool in town, Ed Sheeran, who is a shareholder and sponsor of the team, was in attendance too.

The famous musician only caught the first half of the action; and the Reds would wait until after half-time to really get going under new boss Arne Slot.

Trent Alexander Arnold was in sublime form and Mohamed Salah stole the show with a goal and assist to help the Merseysiders to a 2-0 victory.

On the goal rush, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka were on target as the Gunners beat Wolves 2-0 at the Emirates while Newcastle beat Southampton 1-0. Brighton went to Everton and won 3-0 and Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Bournemouth.

In the late game, Aston Villa defeated West Ham 2-1 at the London Stadium with Jhon Duran and Amadou Onana getting the goals for Unai Emery’s side.

On Sunday, Brentford host Crystal Palace before all eyes turn to Stamford Bridge for Chelsea against champions Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur will wait until Monday night football to get a taste of the new season as they visit Leicester City who will mark their return to the big time.
