Award-winning actress Connie Chiume was invited on the Podcast and Chill with MacG, where she revealed all the struggles she endured before she became famous. Narrating to MacG, Chiume confessed that she moved to the United States of America in search of greener pastures. Upon arriving in America, Texas, the actress struggled to secure the acting job she was searching for and opted to be a waitress so she could put food on the table. Judging from her fame and achievements in the acting industry today, one would never assume Connie Chiume was once a waitress who struggled to make ends meet.

I moved to America so I could see if l could find a better job in the acting industry. Unfortunately, the city l was living in was not much into the film industry yet that was the only city l knew better. I ended up being a waitress earning $11 per hour. I went to training for about 3 days and l started working as a full-time waiter. The job was not easy at all.

After working as a waitress in America for some time, the star decided to move back to South Africa as she wasn’t coping with the type of job she was working.

The actress owns an events management company that coordinates events locally and internationally. The actress is also involved with various community projects. Connie Chiune is a programme director, presenter and actress. The celebrated actress is also a motivational speaker passionate about the youth’s development and growth. During her interview with MacG, she advised the upcoming actors to create multiple income streams to survive in the acting industry.
