With the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicking off on Sunday, here are the highest-paid coaches at the tournament – with no African coach making the top 10.
The Qatar World Cup is blessed with much talent – on and off the pitch, with some football’s best coaches currently on the sidelines.
According to Finance Football, as cited by Ghanasoccernet, Germany coach Hansi Flick is the top earner in Qatar. The former Bayern Munich boss, who won the sextuple with the German giants in 2020, changed club-coaching with international football in May 2021.
Flick, who replaced 2014 World Cup-winning coach Joachim Low, has stabled the German ship and lost just one of his 16 games in charge (a 1-0 defeat to Hungary).
The 57-year-old is the highest-paid international coach currently, earning £5,590,000 per year. Flick is followed by England boss Gareth Southgate and 2018 FIFA World Cup winner Didier Deschamps.
