Dondol Stars co-coach Khuliso Rashamuse has explained what angered his bench during injury time of regulated time, between his side and Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final at the Peter Mokaba stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened when the sides were tied at 1-1 during the match which Pirates went on to win 5-4 on penalties.

An unnamed Pirates official looked to have tampered with Stars’ goalkeeper’s water and essentially divided his attention during the game.

The Stars bench rose in a confrontation with the unnamed official who walked into the tunnel with referee Akhona Makalima rescuing the situation.

Rashamuse explained to the media after his side exited the tournament that Sphamandla Gumede has health problems and that what the Pirates official did was disgusting.

“Spha had a water bottle by the goalposts and it was just pure, pure water. So the cadre there from Orlando Pirates I don’t know his name but that was very disgusting, you don’t do that,” he said after the game in Polokwane.

“Because you know this is a game of tempers we end up losing our tempers and respect. Spha has asthma. So if he doesn’t have the pump he needs the water that’s why I was angry.

“He went there and took the water bottle, now the game is on and Spha is focusing on the guy that was doing that. That was a total zero for me.”

Gumede performed well during the game pulling some incredible saves to help his side drag the Buccaneers to extra time and the shootout.
