South African actor Thapelo Mokoena is beaming with pride after being honoured with the Actor of the Year award at the 10th EMY Africa Awards in Ghana.

The star shared the news with his followers, posting a photo of himself accepting the accolade and reflecting on what he described as an unforgettable weekend in Accra.

Mokoena admitted that he was still struggling to find the right words to capture the moment, calling the recognition an “incredible honour.”

He added, “I love what I do, & I’m super grateful for the acknowledgment.”

He extended gratitude to the organisers of the awards, which are widely regarded as one of the biggest and most respected ceremonies on the continent.

“A big thank you to the biggest Awards ceremony in Africa, the 10th @emyafrica Awards. To the global panels, the founders Brother @kojo_soboh & the whole team. A wonderful first time for me & endless memories made in Accra, definitely not the last,” he wrote.

Mokoena also gave a special shout-out to his designer, Choc of @chocolateclothesglobal, for the standout outfit he wore on the night.

He further acknowledged friend and creative leader @thebeikalafeng for always “speaking life” into him, noting that reconnecting in Ghana was one of the highlights of the trip.

The actor rounded off his message by thanking fans and audiences who continue to support his work.

After landing back in South Africa, he joked that he would be taking a short nap before heading straight back to set.
