The much-anticipated blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit cinemas on 18 December 2026. However, behind the scenes, chaos erupted on set due to an unexpected clash between two Hollywood heavyweights, Ryan Reynolds and Robert Downey Jr.
RYAN REYNOLDS AND ROBERT DOWNEY JR.’S ALLEGED CLASH
Sources reveal that the filming was progressing smoothly until a heated confrontation broke out between the two stars, according to The News.
According to John Rocha of The Hot Mic Podcast, speaking on The Kristian Harloff Show, “They are two pretty big actors.
Apparently, a comment made in jest crossed a line because these Ryan Reynolds and Robert Downey Jr. didn’t know each other that well.”
He added, “One actor became really upset and confronted the other.” It caused a big rift and battle. Two outspoken actors went at each other.”
STALLING PRODUCTION
Though the exact nature of the comment is unclear, insiders say the fallout led the filmmakers to rewrite the scenes involving both Robert Downey Jr and Ryan Reynolds and rely more on body doubles.
This, in turn, stalled parts of the shoot and pushed the production deeper into uncertainty. The Blinded By The Item podcast was the first to suggest the dispute involved Reynolds and Downey Jr.
Apologies have since been exchanged. Rocha noted, “They did come back and make amends. The professionalism took over after the dust settled.”

This incident comes at a sensitive time for Ryan Reynolds, who is juggling his demanding role here amid his wife Blake Lively’s ongoing explosive lawsuit.

While tensions ran high, professionalism won the day, and the film continues on track for its late 2026 release.
