Ten male suspects have been arrested for dealing and manufacturing drugs in the City of Johannesburg.
The group, aged between 25 and 50, was arrested on Thursday, 26 March 2026, in the West Rand following a tip-off about an alleged consignment of narcotics that had been moved from a courier company in Douglasdale to a premises in Ferndale, Johannesburg.
“Members of the Hawks, working together with the West Rand K9 unit, followed up on the information and visited the premises.
Upon arrival, police found suspects offloading boxes from a vehicle. When the suspects saw the police, they scattered, and officers arrested them. Police further searched the premises and found six additional suspects hiding inside the rooms.
During the raid, police discovered various cannabis products with an estimated value of more than R5 million,” said Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday, 30 March 2026.
Meanwhile, Gauteng was identified as the country’s most consistent hub for illicit drug distribution.
This was confirmed by the National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola in 2025.
