Tembo – It’s A Lack Of Leadership

SuperSport United head coach Kaitano Tembo said a lack of leadership led to his team surrendering a two-goal lead and being knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by GladAfrica Championship side Tshakhukma Tsha Madzivhandila.
SuperSport were stunned as TTM came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in their quarter-final on Friday.
Tembo said they had played well to go into that lead, but a lack of leadership, some tired legs and a loss of concentration led to their disappointing exit.
“We started very well,” Tembo said after the game. “We were doing the right things in terms of our pressing as well as our possession, putting the ball in areas that give us an advantage going forward.
“And we had chances hence the first goal that we scored. Once we scored the second goal, so a little bit of legs and a lack of concentration.
“We started doing wrong things, giving the ball away in dangerous areas. And that’s where also the third goal came from. And I thought we didn’t show a little bit of leadership and I think this is one game we should have done better.
“But we’ll see when 90% of your team are your young players, it becomes a little bit difficult. “It’s a lack of leadership, especially in the heart of the defence.”
